Training and experience

I discovered yoga in 2003 during a year in London. In autumn 2004, I completed my first yoga teacher training in the Himalayas. Since then, yoga has been my daily companion and the guiding thread in my life.

Professional experience as a yoga teacher

Experience from several thousand yoga sessions taught. I first ran my own yoga studio in Landsberg am Lech, followed by the Raum 29 yoga house in Middle Franconia for more than nine years. Today, I teach in my own studio on Réunion Island and live online.

Professional experience as a naturopath

Three-year full-time training and German qualification as a Heilpraktikerin. I worked in my own naturopathic practice, first in Landsberg am Lech and later at the Raum 29 yoga house in Middle Franconia.

Continuing education

Kundalini yoga, hormone yoga, prenatal yoga, Professor Dean Ornish’s heart programme, philosophy, Ayurveda, mudras and mantras. I regularly complete Yoga Vidya training related to my professional areas of focus. Member of the BYV professional association.

Experience that endures

Raum 29 – nine years of yoga in Middle Franconia

For more than nine years, I ran the Raum 29 yoga house in Hohenstadt near Pommelsbrunn. With up to 14 classes and around 170 participants each week, it was a vibrant place for regular Hatha yoga practice, yoga therapy, workshops and seminars. I accompanied many people for years, and some still practise live online with me today.

Recognised prevention courses in Germany

The “Hatha Yoga 1 Anfänger” and “Hatha Yoga – Weitermacher” programmes were certified by Germany’s Zentrale Prüfstelle Prävention under Section 20 SGB V. This central certification body assesses, on behalf of participating German statutory health insurers, whether prevention courses meet the quality standards established by law. This recognition allowed insured members, after regular participation and subject to their insurer’s terms, to apply for a contribution towards the course fee. The courses were listed in the health-course directories of insurers including TK and AOK. The certifications were renewed over several assessment periods and remained valid until autumn 2024. They were not renewed after I stopped teaching in Germany.

Seminars and encounters

Raum 29 was also a lively place for encounters. Teacher friends from my wider yoga network regularly stayed with us and sometimes enriched the programme spontaneously, for example with Yin yoga, themed sessions or shared discussions. In September 2022, for instance, the Indian monk and Vedanta teacher Swami Nityabodhananda stayed with us for around two weeks and led two full-day seminars. During his visit, he also joined the everyday life of the yoga house, attended regular classes and shared insights and conversations with participants. I taught several yoga sessions during this time.

The classes

Structure of a yoga session

A Hatha yoga session follows a holistic approach to body and mind. Conscious effort alternates with relaxation, while the breathing exercises have both cleansing and harmonising effects. The 90-minute format also allows time for explanations, individual corrections and different variations.

Equipment

Yoga mats, round and crescent-shaped meditation cushions, blocks and bolsters are available in the studio. Participants are also welcome to bring their own yoga mat.

My yoga style

I teach in the tradition of Swami Sivananda, a physician, monk and renowned Indian yoga master. He did not invent a new form of yoga, but brought the ancient tradition of classical yoga together into a comprehensive system.

“Serve, love, give, purify, meditate, realise.”

The five basic pillars

01

Proper exercise (Asanas)

They increase the mobility of joints, muscles, ligaments and tendons, stimulate circulation and strengthen the internal organs. They also build muscular strength and improve the flexibility of the spine.

02

Proper breathing (Pranayama)

It refreshes, calms and harmonises body and mind. Deep, conscious breathing can reduce stress and negative moods.

03

Proper relaxation (Savasana)

When body and mind remain under constant tension, they lose efficiency. Physical discomfort may accompany mental fatigue and irritability. A few minutes of physical, mental and spiritual relaxation can restore balance and energy.

04

Proper diet (Vegetarian)

It is fresh, natural and easy to digest and helps to prevent physical discomfort.

05

Positive thinking and meditation (Vedanta and Dhyana)

They are the keys to peace of mind. By directing the mind, we become more balanced and focused and experience silence and inner peace.
